Movie On The Lawn TC Update
One of the fun and unique things about Session 4 is that we continue to get opportunities to mix up our schedule. Throwing in surprises here and there keeps it fun for both our Campers and Huawni Staff. So far this session, we have implemented a few very cool things out of the norm. On Friday Night we added a Huawni Staff round of soccer, giving our Counselors an end of summer competitive outlet. We also added a staff inning during our Wiffleball World Series. And last night after Miss Huawni we surprised everyone with a movie on Flagpole Hill. We purchased a giant inflatable movie screen and watched the Greatest Showman. Campers munched on popcorn and snacks as we enjoyed a movie under the stars!
All Day Tribal Competition
Wednesday marks another mile marker in our Main Camp — all day Tribal Competition. As always, we kicked off the morning with Soccer Kick Around the Pool. The goal is to kick your team’s soccer ball around the chair and back to your teammate in as fast a time as possible. Tejas came away with the victory in Soccer Kick. Next, campers gathered at the Skillet (our basketball court) and competed in Hot Shot. Each Camper was tasked with getting one shot, and making the basket constituted a point for their team. Caddo came storming back as they won Hot Shot. We ended the morning with the famous, famous, MOST FAMOUS OC Team Run. The OC Team Run is legendary at Camp Huawni. The goal is to get your team through the course in as fast a time as possible. It requires speed, strategy in getting campers and counselors across the rope swing, and of course a quick rope exchange at the platform and bank side of the creek. Caddo notched another win at OC Team Run, making Tribal Competition results thus far very close!
This afternoon we have added a few more Counselor legs, as more staff are able to participate. The results are not final yet, but this afternoon we are competing in the Innertube Relay, Huawni Derby, and the Huawni Iron Man.
