Horseback Riding Option at Camp Huawni
Camp Huawni offers a unique
horse camp program for children and teens throughout the
summer. Horseback riding has been a part of the Camp Huawni
tradition since our beginning in 1965. Many camp memories
have been made sitting atop a trusted Huawni mount.
Since horseback riding is not preferred by all campers, the
equestrian program at Camp Huawni is optional. Riding and
working with horses can be enjoyable and rewarding. Because
of the nature of the activity, the Huawni staff is
especially safety conscious. Experienced instructors,
specialized equipment, and well-trained animals are
necessary components of the program. Western Pleasure
riding, grooming and animal care are emphasized. The program
is available for boys and girls at our East Texas summer
camp.
The equestrian program requires
an additional fee in addition to the regular tuition. Class
sizes are limited, and a camper must choose the horsemanship
option during the application process and prior to entering
camp.
