WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP

Campers should pack enough clothes and personal articles for their entire stay at camp; i.e. if coming for two weeks, pack for two weeks. Washers and dryers are available but are used for emergencies.)

Necessary Items:
4 Twin Sheets and 1 Twin Mattress Pad
1 Pillow and Pillow Case
1 Blanket
Towels and washcloths
Sweater or light jacket
2 Pairs of Jeans (minimum)
Shorts, shirts, & socks (Primarily daily camp attire)
2 Pairs of Tennis Shoes
2 Swimsuits and pool footwear (flip flops etc)
Church attire (shorts or jeans OK)- For 2 week sessions only
Toilet articles, shampoo (plastic bottles)
Suntan lotion
Insect repellent
Laundry bag—white mesh for washing w/clothes inside
Cap or hat
Stamps and writing materials

Optional Items:
Camera and film
Fishing rod, reel, and tackle
Flashlight
Musical instrument

The most popular and practical camp luggage is the foot locker. It is handy, slides under the bunk bed, and can take moderate abuse. Suitcases are OK, too. Do not send valuable luggage. Do not bring valuables to camp (money, expensive cameras,
jewelry, keepsakes, etc.)

Please label all clothes and belongings. There is no way for the camp staff to assure that items are claimed if they are not properly labeled. It is also a good idea to make a list of a camper’s clothes and belongings and tape it to the foot locker. This list helps when packing to go home.

Each cabin is provided with fans; therefore, do not bring individual fans. No plug-in appliances are allowed. Bring only battery operated clocks and radios. Electric hair dryers and hot curlers can be brought to camp, but their use will be limited. Do not bring glass containers. Shampoo, suntan lotion, etc. should be in plastic containers only.

TVs, laptop computers, or cellular phones are not allowed—if brought to camp, they will be taken up and returned to the camper on closing day.

The camp telephone is a business phone and is used as such. Campers cannot use the telephone except in cases of emergency. We do encourage parents to call if a problem arises, such as homesickness, be it child or parent.

There is NO need for a camper to have money at camp. Snacks are covered by the camp tuition. Camp wear purchased during the session, stamps, and emergency items (lost toothbrushes, etc.) can be charged and paid for by parents on closing day. For those
campers traveling to and from camp by air, arrangements can be made with the directors for safeguarding travel money and/or airline tickets.

If campers are traveling by air, a camp representative will meet them at either Shreveport, LA (SHV) or Longview, TX (GGG) airport (commercial flights) or Center, TX (private flights). There is a charge of $25 each way. Indicate on the camper’s application that this service is needed.
