| What to Pack for Camp Huawni |
The usual attire at Camp Huawni is shorts, t-shirts, and athletic shoes. Sandals are appropriate for leisure activities. Of course, activities like swimming and hiking require the appropriate clothing and equipment; i.e. bathing suits for swimming and water sports, boots and long pants for hiking. Campers should pack enough clothes for their length of stay. Two-week campers will have their laundry done once while they are in Camp, while one-week campers are on an "as needed" basis.
Necessary Items: 4 Twin Sheets and 1 Twin Mattress Pad 1 Pillow and Pillow Case 1 Blanket Towels and washcloths Sweater or light jacket 2 Pairs of Jeans (minimum) Shorts, shirts, & socks (primarily daily Camp attire) 2 Pairs of Tennis Shoes 2 Swimsuits and pool footwear (flip flops etc) Church attire (shorts or jeans OK) - For 2 week sessions only Toiletry articles, including shampoo and conditioner (plastic bottles) Sunscreen Insect repellent Water bottle Laundry bag (white mesh for washing with clothes inside) Cap or hat Stamps and writing materials
Optional Items: Camera and film Fishing rod, reel, and tackle Flashlight Musical instrument Battery operated clock Battery operated radio
The most popular and practical Camp luggage is the foot locker. It is handy, slides under the bunk bed, and can take moderate abuse. Suitcases are acceptable as well. Please label all clothes and belongings. There is no way for the Camp staff to ensure that items are claimed if they are not properly labeled. It is also a good idea to make a list of a camper's clothes and belongings and tape it to the foot locker. This list helps when packing to go home.
