A lot has happened in the past few days of Camp, so here we go!

Monday afternoon we closed off camp for our Huawni Triathlon. Most would consider the Huawni Triathlon a sprint, but to anyone who has every completed the race, we know that it’s anything but a sprint. Our triathlon consists of an 80 yard swim, a 2 mile bike, and a 3/4 mile run. We had 44 campers sign up, which is nearly 30% of camp! I’m so proud of our campers who participated. I’ll do my best to post the results later today.

Miss Huawni

Monday evening we hosted Miss Huawni. Each cabin had a cabin representative that participated, and then both Tejas and Caddo had a girl camper represent their tribe. Congratulations to Annmarie T. for being crowned Session 3 Miss Huawni! The best thing about Miss Huawni is that it has turned into one of our biggest opportunities to speak identity and value into all of girls camp. Similar to last session, when girl campers got back to the cabin, they were met with flowers and a note of encouragement from their girl counselors. Counselors wrote down and spoke words of affirmation to all their girls. It was a special night.

Tribal Competition Update

Tuesday night was round 2 of the Wiffleball World Series. Both fields were decked out with clean field paint and announcing booths. Kudos to Christian, Mike, Juanse and Reed for prepping the fields and playing fun baseball music and commentary all night. Caddo started the night up 2 games to 0, so Tejas would have to win both games and then score more total runs to win the tie breaker. In game one Tejas pulled up a 2-1 upset in what was a quick game. Everyone headed over to the other field to cheer on their fellow tribe members. Tejas ended up winning that game 6-2! This game was full of energy. Unfortunately for Tejas, they just came up a few runs short of winning the tie breaker. It was a great matchup and Tejas and Caddo were part of a memorable WWS.

On Wednesday all of Camp joined together for all-day Tribal Competition. They competed in 7 events. Here were the results!

Soccer Kick Around the Pool – Tejas
Hotshot – Tejas
OC Team Run – Caddo
Innertube Relay – Caddo
Huawni Derby – Tejas
Run for the Roses – Caddo
Tug-O-War – Tejas

Wyatt and Clayton compete for individual tribal competition points at archery.

Austin tugs the long run leg for Caddo in the Huawni Derby.

Manuel finished the last leg in Run for the Roses to bring Caddo to victory!

Tejas eyes the finish of the OC Team Run.

Today we are having Connect, which means campers get to pick their favorite schedule. Tonight we’ll all gather for our session Celebration. It’s hard to believe we only have 2 full days left.
