Siblings at summer camp.jpg?ixlib=rails 2.1

One of the neatest things about summer camp, especially at Huawni, is seeing friendships grow amongst siblings. There is truly something special about the bonds between siblings at Camp Huawni. This session we have a plethora of siblings that are at summer camp all at the same time. Today the Palmer kids shared more about the role Camp has played in their friendship as siblings. For the record, Sam lost his answers…so we will let EA and SJ fill in the gaps!

We don’t really fight at summer camp which has made us much closer as well!

TEA: What’s your earliest memory of camp with your siblings and why was it so memorable?

EA: With Sam it was being on the same tribal comp team. I also remember when Sam had to arrive late to Camp (on a Monday) and I [at that moment] realized how excited I was to see him! My earliest memory with SJ was her first year and her falling asleep on me during Sing Song. We grew closer that summer.

SJ: My earliest memory was my first year at camp— my brother and sister helped me settle in and helped me when I was sad. It was memorable because I learned I could lean on them.

TEA: What do you like about going to camp with your brother and sister? What do you not like?

EA: I like seeing Sam and SJ everyday and I like seeing them make friends and interact with people independently. I LOVE knowing that if they needed me they could find me easily. I don’t really like having to worry about them, BUT knowing that I should (and I do!).

SJ: I love getting to hang out and have fun together. And when I have a bad day they cheer me up. I don’t like that they mess with me!:)

TEA: How was going to summer camp with your brother and sister made you closer?

EA: It has made us closer because we have shared the same experiences and can talk about them all the time! We don’t really fight at summer camp which has made us much closer as well!

SJ: We stick up for each other and protect each other. Also, we get to hang out a lot at camp!

EA, Sam and Sarah Jane huddle up at break.

EA is spending her 10th summer at camp!

Sam is spending his 8th summer at camp.

Sarah Jane is the youngest but maybe the most passionate about Camp!

For those of you who went to summer camp with your sibling, what was your fondest memory and why?
