Watching Kelsey grow up at camp has been quite a treat. It’s really an honor to have Kelsey step up this summer into a leadership role as a senior counselor. Kelsey, or “Biscuit Sr.”, is finishing up her senior year at East Texas Baptist University, where’s she has served as the womens’ varsity soccer captain for 3 years. Kelsey is passionate about leadership and sharing the love God has given her to kids who don’t get it everyday. Here’s a few things Kelsey had to say in a recent chat.

TEA: What specifically about Camp are you passionate about?

KB: So many things about camp make my heart beat. Because I get to do things like Sunday hikes or sharing day-to-day life with some of the most amazing, energetic, and silly people, my heart beats for the love and growth you get to share as a family at Camp Huawni.

TEA: What’s one of your favorite camp memories?

KB: One of my most cherished memories is my Pine Top year because we had the most legit skit night performance. We made up a dance to one of the most popular Backstreet Boys songs, turned off the lights, and had glow sticks that lit up the entire Dining Hall. We ended up winning the sprit stick and celebrating all through the night by staying up, eating food, and sharing life stories with one another. “ PINE TOP 08’ DON’T HATE!!!!”

TEA: What are you looking foward to this summer?

KB: This summer I’m looking forward to sharing another awesome summer spending my time investing in my friends and campers around me. Getting to share what has made me so passionate about camp and the joy it brings to my heart can only be expressed by giving others the same experience I have had at Camp Huawni.

TEA: What do you want to say to campers?

KB: Get ready for the best time of your life…one that will make you leave wanting more!!
