Here’s some updated pictures from our day on Sunday. Sunday is one of my favorite days of camp, and it did not disappoint.

We had a very peaceful Sunday service at the Little Red Church. Mr. Mike led us in Father I Adore You and Swing Low. Dana Stimson and Michelle Lim also led worship and sang This Is Amazing Grace, How He Loves, and Oceans. Tommy Hankins shared the message with the younger campers outside the Little Red Church, and Quinton Peyton shared the message with our older campers inside. Quinton shared about how on our own, we fall short, and how God’s love is ultimately what allows us to love beyond what we can do on our own.

Tommy shares with some of our younger campers at the Little Red Church.

We had sloppy joes and ice cream sandwiches for lunch, and then got in a good rest period. Yesterday afternoon was Choice, and we took the famous, famous, MOST FAMOUS Sunday Hike to Turtle Rock. Turtle Rock is a unique hiking destination. It’s located about a mile into the Pinson Creek bottoms, and it’s not easy to get to. We hiked through what we call the Big Woods, which is the home of a natural spring, and we even passed by the Lily Pad Pond. Once you get to the Pinson Creek, you can see Turtle Rock across the bank. It’s called Turtle Rock because it looks like a big turtle statue, from which you can jump into the water. There we feasted on ice-cold watermelon prepared by Pete and Rob Payne. It was a delight of an afternoon.

Campers hiked through the big forrest on our way to Turtle Rock and the Indian Mounds.

Lindsey, Gunnar, and Tucker take the plunge off Turtle Rock.

Just when you thought things were slowing down….they picked right back up. After supper we played Round 1 of the Wiffleball World Series. Caddo won one game 2-0, and Tejas won the other game, 2-0. The amount of chanting and team spirit at both these games was incredible. The energy was electric, and I’m so proud of our kids and staff for putting their all in this storied Tribal Competition Tradition. Both teams will face off again on Tuesday night for the Championship. If both teams finish with 2 wins, the winner will be decided by total runs over the 4 games.

And of course, after wiffleball, we all joined on the Front Yard for the famous Water Balloon/Shaving Creme war. Boys Camp faced off against Girls Camp in the midst of so shaving creme, flour, and chaos. The campers were ready to hit the pillow when it was all said and done.

It’s crazy to thing we only have one more week of Camp! This week is a big bonding time, and campers are really enjoying their time with each other. The friendships that are forming will last a lifetime.
